A coprolite, or fossilized feces, is a trace fossil that provides insight into an animal’s diet and behavior. The term, derived from the Greek words kopros (dung) and lithos (stone), was coined by English geologist William Buckland, a pioneer in studying prehistoric life before the term “dinosaur” existed.
